How to configure a proxy in Windows 10 step by step?

The following steps will guide you in configuring a proxy server in Windows 10:

Step 1 :

Open the “Parameters” application. You can open this application by simply pressing the “Windows + I key”.

You can also enter “Parameters” in the search bar next to the Start menu. Click on the first option offered.

Step 2 :

Click “Network and Internet” Settings.

Note: this parameter provides options for configuring several parameters such as Wi-Fi, aircraft mode, remote access, VPN, Ethernet, data use and proxy parameters.

Step 3 :

Click on “Proxy” in the left submenus. Basically, there are two types of proxy configuration available on your computer, namely the automatic proxy configuration and the manual proxy configuration.

In the automatic configuration of the proxy, the computer will automatically use a proxy server for Ethernet or Wi-Fi connections. However, if you want to connect to a specific server, you can provide a “Script Address” by activating “Use the configuration script”. Click on “Save” to confirm your settings.

Step 4 :

If you want to configure a manual proxy configuration, deactivate use setup script and deactivate the “Script address” first in the automatic configuration of the proxy.

Now scroll down in the manual proxy section.

Now, under the manual configuration of the proxy, drag the bar to activate “Use a proxy server”. Fill in the IP address and port number in the boxes provided. Click on “Save” to confirm your settings.

Note: If you want to use Proxy Server for specific websites, mention their IP address in the last section. Click again on “Save” to confirm your settings.
